Visit the FLBWG at an Outreach Event
Lubee Bat Conservancy in Gainesville, FL is hosting the 19th Annual Florida Bat Festival on Saturday, October 21st! The Festival is a wonderful way to celebrate and spread bat conservation awareness while enjoying all the batty fun festivities! This is one of the few opportunities to visit the giant fruit bats. The Florida Bat Working Group will again be tabling at the event this year. Contact the FLBWG Outreach and Education Committee if you are interested in assisting or have raffle items to share. Several other FLBWG members will be stationed at nearby booths, including the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and UF/IFAS Extension. For anyone coming to Gainesville for the Festival, there will be an informal FLBWG meet-up the night before (Friday 20th) to visit the University of Florida Bat Houses at sunset, followed by dinner/drinks at a local restaurant. Please contact Shelly Johnson in advance for details if you are interested.
